In the serenity of nature, I find a profound sense of peace and interconnectedness that often eludes us in our bustling, modern lives. To me, nature acts as a gateway to our souls, reminding us of our place in the world and igniting a sense of wonder. These moments, immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the outdoors, allow us to nourish our souls and seek solace in the embrace of the natural world. Keep reading, as I recount my recent adventure, not through a hike, but a short motorcycle ride that transported me back in time to an era 107 million years ago.

Skyline Drive: Majestic Heights and Thrilling Curves: The narrow winding road of Skyline Drive in Canon City, CO, rises majestically above the city, infusing the journey with a thrilling blend of excitement and adventure. Spanning an impressive 2.8 miles, the road ascends 800 feet above the cityscape, rewarding riders with breathtaking panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see. It's fascinating to discover that this road, constructed in 1905, was the labor of 60 inmates from the local prison. Working on the road provided them with a respite from their sentences, with each day worked earning them 10 days off. At the entrance, you'll encounter a remarkable rock arch, constructed in 1932 using stones sourced from every state in the union.

Ancient Discoveries: A Glimpse into the Past: Adding to the intrigue of Skyline Drive, a remarkable discovery was made in 1999 or 2000—dinosaur tracks along the road's edge. These tracks are believed to have been left by an ankylosaurus, offering a captivating window into the past. Dating back 107 million years, they harken back to a time when the area was an estuary, where the sea stretched into what is now the landlocked state of Colorado. The formation of the Rocky Mountains uplifted these tracks, enabling us to observe them from beneath—an extraordinary and truly unique perspective. Standing beneath the tracks, one can't help but feel an indescribable connection to the ancient world and the enigmatic mysteries it holds.

Leaving Your Imprint: Crafting a Lasting Legacy: Reflecting on the dinosaur tracks and the rich history of Skyline Drive, it's time for you to contemplate the imprints you wish to leave for future generations. Just as these prehistoric tracks were preserved for millions of years, it compels you to consider the legacy you aspire to create. Are there beliefs or self-imposed limitations that hinder your ability to make a greater impact in the world? These profound questions urge you to break free from the confines of the status quo and embrace the opportunity to disrupt gracefully. This is your chance to craft a legacy that inspires and shapes a brighter future for all.
