When the World Feels Like It’s Waking Up (and Falling Apart)

Lately, it feels like everyone’s holding their breath. The government shutdown has stretched into what’s now the longest in history. Alongside it, fears about AI taking over continue to grow, job losses are accelerating, and speculation about what the 3I/Atlas comet might mean has filled our social media pages. Uncertainty is thick in the air.

And yet, beneath all of that, I’m noticing something else. People are showing up for each other. When SNAP benefits were in question, communities organized food drives and checked on neighbors. It reminded me that even when the world feels unstable, our interconnectedness remains steady.

The headlines may tell one story, but the energy underneath tells another. We’re in the middle of a massive recalibration.

  • Old systems are cracking because they can no longer hold what’s emerging.
  • The rise in job losses, particularly from automation and AI, mirrors a deeper truth: both people and institutions are being asked to release what no longer aligns with where we’re going.

And then there’s the 3I Atlas comet, a visitor from beyond our solar system driving speculation. Some say it’s just another interstellar rock; others feel it carries a message. Either way, its arrival feels symbolic. Just as 3I/Atlas entered our orbit unexpectedly, new levels of awareness are entering ours. Energies, memories, and emotions we thought long resolved are resurfacing for integration and refinement. We are being stretched between what was and what is becoming. It’s uncomfortable, yes, but also exciting.

People often imagine “awakening” as a calm, blissful realization where suddenly everything makes sense. But in truth, it’s disorienting. It’s the moment you realize that what used to feel good no longer fits. It’s the ache of growing out of an old version of yourself without yet knowing who you’re becoming...the in-between. You just know you cannot go on living in the status quo.

That’s where many of us are right now. Sometimes you wake up to your own patterns, the ways you’ve dimmed yourself to stay comfortable, the beliefs you inherited but never questioned. Sometimes it’s your relationships that start to shift, or your work, or your health. And sometimes it’s all of it at once, which is what makes it feel like chaos.

Even those of us who have been doing this work for years are being brought back into deeper layers right now. Old emotions, memories, and energetic imprints we thought were long gone are resurfacing. The body is clearing out anything that can’t travel with us into this next level of awareness. Sometimes that looks like tears for no reason, exhaustion that doesn’t make sense, or waves of emotion that seem to come out of nowhere. If that’s been happening to you, you’re not alone and you are not backsliding; you’re leveling up even more.

Don't try and figure anything out, just notice. Notice what no longer fits. Notice what keeps calling you back home to yourself. Notice what softens you when you stop trying to control it all.

For the month of November, I invite you to reflect on what’s been awakened in you.

  • What truth became impossible to ignore?
  •  What illusion finally lost its grip?
  •  What part of you, long buried or forgotten, started to stir again?

Because maybe, just maybe, this isn’t a world falling apart; it’s humanity waking up.

If you’re moving through your own season of awakening, I have ongoing conversations, gatherings, and writings where we explore these shifts together. You can find them at DisruptingGracefully.com
