Beyond Words: The Future of Communication Is Energy and Presence

Have you ever gone for a walk and felt like you weren’t really alone? Not in a creepy way, more like there was something familiar walking with you. That happened to me last month. On that day, the air felt different, almost mystical, and I was curious about what might unfold. I felt tapped in, and I was guided off the path to explore other parts of the land.

Not long after, I noticed some juniper trees I don’t remember seeing before (the land is full of them). I believe there’s symbolism in almost everything, if we’re willing to notice. Traditions across time have given meaning to plants, animals, and even objects, because for them, everything is alive, everything is connected, and everything communicates if we slow down enough to notice

Junipers grow in the harshest places, right out of rock, communicating something without a sound: resilience, strength, and beauty. Standing there, I realized it wasn’t just about the tree. It was also a reminder. In a world of nonstop noise and busyness, maybe it’s time to bring back what we’ve lost; the ability to communicate simply, clearly, and without all the extra layers. To remember that presence itself carries meaning.

That realization pulled me back to my own life. My brain doesn’t do well with layers of spoken words. Just give me the main points. Too much at once and I tend to tune out. Vague communication can be just as hard. When there is so little to go on, my brain runs through all the logical possibilities, and that can be exhausting. Over the years I’ve learned that real understanding often comes when you listen differently.

My years in the justice system forced me to face this head-on. Those environments were full of words, reports, arguments, procedures, “he said/she said”. People didn’t always say what they meant or mean what they said. Don’t forget all that “legalese”... a language that most people impacted by the system don’t even understand. To be effective, I had to listen beyond the surface: into tone, body language, and the energy beneath what was being said.

I moved on from the tree, and a short while later, I stumbled upon an old telephone pole. You just can’t make this stuff up! The juniper triggered insight on communication and then I stumble on a telephone pole that had no business being where it was, but there it was, and the message was clear.

Communication is changing.

We talk a lot, often over each other, competing to be heard. But how much are we really saying?

Words can pile up, but that doesn’t mean they bring clarity. Sometimes they make it harder, leaving us to sort through too much useless information, or not enough information, and forcing us to guess.

What if communication wasn’t about sorting through words at all? What if it was about reading the energy underneath them, the tone, the intention, the frequency being sent?

That’s the kind of communication that doesn’t need translation. You don’t have to spin through logical possibilities or fill in the blanks. You just know.

Nature communicates this way all the time, silently, but clearly. And so can we.

The future of communication isn’t more words.
It’s learning to recognize the signal beneath them.

And maybe that matters now more than ever. With so much chaos and division in the world, words can be twisted, weaponized, or drowned out. But when you practice listening differently, not just to words but to the energy beneath them, you begin to discern what is true. Today, that kind of clarity is essential.

What signals are you noticing beneath the words in your own conversations?

How to start noticing the energy behind words:

  • Pay attention to body language as much as the words themselves.

  • Notice how your body reacts when someone is speaking — tension or ease can tell you a lot.

  • Slow down and give yourself a pause before responding. Often what’s unspoken becomes clearer in the silence.

If this resonates, it’s not random.

This is the same thread in my work. Whether it’s a regression session, a journey, my new membership Lilith Rising, or my upcoming Pattern Disruption workshop (Sept. 28th), it’s not about more noise or endless talking. It’s about making space to actually meet yourself.

Just opening to what’s already there.

Because the future of communication, with yourself, with others, with the world around you, isn’t more words.

It’s more presence.

If it feels like time, let’s connect.
